Reviewers in our sample are broadly happy, and the star spread supports that: three quarters are five stars, though roughly a tenth sit at three. The recurring praise is for battery life and strength compared with the earlier model, the spread of modes, and having the controls in hand during a normal routine. Complaints cluster on handling rather than results. The larger body is fiddly around facial contours, the settings button is easy to knock by accident, and one reviewer found the sensation uncomfortable. Several also flag a learning curve, saying they needed tutorial videos, and note that any visible change takes weeks rather than days.

• Every '2X' on this page carries an asterisk, and the asterisk is the story: the doubling is measured against the brand's own Booster Pro at Level 5. It is a self-referential benchmark. Nothing here compares the device to anyone else's, or to using nothing at all.
• The listing leans on breadth: seven modes and six intensity levels, dual heads, a dedicated sheet-mask mode. Breadth has a cost; each mode has its own rules for what goes on the skin underneath, so the manual stops being optional and becomes the operating document, gel question included.
• The contraindication list for this model is not held by us. The category's standard exclusions, pacemakers, epilepsy, pregnancy, metal implants, open skin, should be assumed until the box says otherwise, and a multi-mode device gives that list more places to matter.
• Independent clinical evidence: none that we can cite. a review base still in the low hundreds, at 4.4 is a young listing doing well, and as ever the results people describe come from consistent use, not from ownership.

Our read

This is the flagship, priced like it, and pitched almost entirely as an upgrade: even its headline numbers are ratios against the older Booster Pro. That tells you who it is for. If you have run a Booster Pro at full intensity, kept the habit and want headroom, the case is coherent; as a first device or a first Medicube purchase it is the wrong end of the range to start at.

Who should skip this

• You have never owned a skincare device. Starting at the most expensive, most complicated end is how gadgets end up abandoned.
• You own a Booster Pro and are happy at your current level. The '2X' is measured against that device's Level 5; if power was not your bottleneck, this solves a problem you do not have.
• You cannot confirm the contraindication list, or you would be using it over active breakouts and broken skin.
